Wine with an intense ruby colour. The nose is fruity and expressive with notes of pepper, pine and blackcurrant buds, underlined by hints of smoked wood. The palate is fluid with a delicate structure. A wine of great finesse with silky and precise tannins.
Pair it with osso bucco or a seven-hour roast leg of lamb.
Maturation : 12 months partly in oak barrels, natural concrete amphorae and stainless steel tanks.
THE 2018 VINTAGE AT CHÂTEAU D'ESTOUBLON
After a very dry autumn in 2017, January 2018 saw the return of significant rainfall. February was cold and dry. A beautiful vegetative period until flowering, spared from the wind, which resulted in a historic grape harvest. July was hot (28 days at more than 30°C) and led to some water stress. Fortunately, the rains of 15 August came at the right time. They were very beneficial and quenched the thirst of the vines which were thus able to return to a normal cycle. The harvest took place in bright sunshine. The first white grapes were harvested on September 1st, and the mourvèdre grapes were picked on October 5th, when they reached full maturity. At Château d'Estoublon, the sorting carried out in the vines and in the cellar enabled us to produce fine and elegant wines.
